Visual creator anothermountainman (Stanley Wong) will hold an exhibition in Lumenvisum this August. A hundred and fifty thousand street photographs, took by anothermountainman in the past forty years, will be presented in different ways by four curators: Patrick Lee, Lau Ching-ping, Jimmy Lee, and Sharon Lee.
The personalities are showed among those photographs. This is a process for anothermountainman to know himself, and lead to an answer with full of possibilities.
His old and new friends, the four curators will present the works in the square exhibition area of Lumenvisum. This exhibition highlights the uniqueness of curators, and showing integrity of anothermountainman and curators, 4 views on 1 view. anothermountainman turns this solo exhibition for ‘re-views’.
“How are his friends going to tell the story of mountainman? How do they establish a point of view on mountainman? Will they tell their own stories? Or even stories beyond the photos?”
anothermountainman (Stanley Wong)
Graduated from Hong Kong Technical Teachers’ College (Design & Technology), anothermountainman (Stanley Wong) is a renowned designer and contemporary artist.
Following five years as a graphic designer, Wong began his career in the advertising industry, working as Chief Executive and Creative Director for many international advertising agencies. Fifteen years later, with his passion and enthusiasm for creative visuals, Wong became a film director for television commercials and established 84000 Communications in 2007, branching out his creative career.
Wong is also passionate in photography and various creative mediums with strong focus on social issues. Over the past two decades, Wong gained international awareness with his ‘red, white and blue’ series that promotes the ‘positive spirit of Hong Kong’, which he presented at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005 representing Hong Kong.
Along his career, Wong received over 600 local, Asian and international awards for his art, design, photography and advertising works, including 2 One Show gold awards from U.S., D&AD yellow pencil from UK and Tokyo TDC award. Many of his works have been exhibited in local and overseas galleries and museums in more than 150 shows, including solo show at Tokyo ggg in 2015, and at Hong Kong Heritage Museum from 2019 to 2020. Collectors of his works include Hong Kong M+ and London V&A Museum. In May 2012, Wong was named the Artist of the Year 2011 (Visual Arts) in Hong Kong Arts Development Awards, and received the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Awards 2012 from Hong Kong Museum of Art. In 2020, He was named DFA World’s Outstanding Chinese Designer.
Patrick Lee
‘The eagle’s eye’-It’s gaze the longing for union with god in the night of spirit; it’s gaze to express the unfulfilled desire of such a soul to be completely united to god; It’s gaze anguished with an unbearable desire for pure love; To lose itself with an all-consuming longing body, soul, and spirit in total self-surrender,
To the tender and all unconditional mercy of god living the feeling of powerlessness perhaps the most direct path to peace, the resolution of peace to the human drama and human dilemma; this, this perhaps is my ‘night’ – my art, my life, my faith, my eay in transforming grace to purify the habitual distractedness, the cultural conditioning and the spiritual pride to transforming-union, my life in christ to union one in god all in the goodness of time.
Lau Ching Ping
Lau Ching Ping interested in visual design and photography. He was the co-founder photography magazine dislocation, self-published the photo book Thin as air, currently takes part in Hong Kong International Photo Festival. He Hopes to face the World’s future with an optimistic aperture setting.
Jimmy Lee
Jimmy Lee is a visual art practitioner, documentary photographer and fine art researcher. From 2015, Lee is working on trilogy that implicitly dealing with the metamorphosis of Hongkongers in essence.
Sharon Lee
Sharon Lee was born in 1992, lives and works in Hong Kong, graduated from the BA in fine arts and Master of fine arts from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is dedicated to art making.
